Family Shelter 

In 2000, Tedford Housing opened six family apartments at 34 Federal Street in downtown Brunswick.  The apartments are 2 or 3 bedroom units with separate egress and kitchens.

The shelter is open 365 nights a year.  Staff is on site from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays and part of each weekend.

Who Can Stay at Tedford?

Any family with children who is homeless may stay at the shelter except:

  • Those seeking shelter from domestic violence
  • Those under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
  • Those with members who are convicted sex offenders

All family head of households agree to the following:

  • Maintain their apartment
  • Attend weekly house meetings
  • Follow house rules
  • Seek employment and housing
  • Meet regularly with Tedford Housing case managers

The length of stay is determined on case-by-case basis.
